Started in spring 2014, Cottage Concerts began life as quarterly house concerts held at the delightful country cottage of Kev Buxton’s partner, Sandy Huddart, in the award winning village of Old near Northampton. In spring 2016, for personal and practical reasons, we relocated to the nearby Old Community Centre (equally as homely but with a bit more space) where they continue to go from strength to strength. The concerts feature a mix of Kontra favourites along with some superb acts (including the occasional legend!) who we haven’t been able to book at other Kontra events. They have proved to be something very special indeed and become enormously popular with virtually every show a sell out.

Paul Lamb is renowned as one of the world’s great blues harmonica players, and he and his band The King Snakes have won British Blues Band of the Year on several occasions as well as a whole heap of other awards. For this special concert to celebrate Sandy’s 70th  birthday, Paul teams up with King Snakes' ace guitarist and singer, Chad Strentz, in a "killer of a blues duo", a highly entertaining masterclass of virtuoso musicianship. Donations for a typical Cottage Concert are £12-£14 (payable in advance) and include a full home cooked meal. The atmosphere is friendly and informal, the seating comfortable, and the country setting absolutely idyllic. Old Village is approximately 15 minutes drive from both Kettering and Northampton. Our doors are open from 7pm for food and the concerts start around 8pm. There are two 45 minute sets approximately, with a sweet course available in the interval. People are welcome to bring their own alcohol, but soft drinks are provided.
