ABOUT SALLY BARKER
Sally Barker is a singer's singer and a songwriter's songwriter. You will remember the very first time you heard her sing for her voice is like no other. She has the ability to lift the words off the page and can move people to tears armed with that 'bucket-full of soul' voice. As a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Sally has had a long, varied and successful career in music, and, though often labeled a folk artist, her appeal stretches across many more musical genres. A much respected solo artist with half a dozen solo albums to her name, Sally is also celebrated for her live and studio work fronting all-female folk supergroup, The Poozies. In 2014 she achieved national celebrity when she was a finalist in the BBC One talent contest, The Voice, finishing a respectable joint second place, and memorably moving judge Sir Tom Jones to tears with her rendition of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. Sally has, in addition, supported many of the all time music greats including Bob Dylan and Robert Plant.
"For me, it was just full of emotion. It was so beautiful that I couldn't help myself. You swept me off my feet.” Sir Tom Jones, The Voice
"Sally changes the atmosphere in a room when she sings." BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans
"I have to say you sound amazing and angelic." Will.i.am
"That was beautiful. Sally makes the room stop." Kylie Minogue
"Her enormous vocal range and stupendous control can relax or rouse at will - she coaxes her voice from that of a mild modern English rose to raw throated blues." Edinburgh Fringe Festival review
CHRIS CONWAY & DAN BRITTON
The Govannen front men are two of the finest musicians in the East Midlands and a powerful combination, each a distinguished singer-songwriter in his own right, who together have toured the UK supporting some of the biggest names in the business. Blending American and Celtic styles, and between them playing guitars, flutes and whistles, keyboards, bodhran, kalimbas as well as their fantastically strong vocals, they have the unique ability to sound like a full band.
